In 2011, Prof Tumusiime-Mutebile was named the Central Bank governor of the year in Africa. The governor, 71, received the accolade at the African Banker Awards during IMF-World Bank annual meetings in Washington, D.C. The award was in recognition of his outstanding leadership and for being the architect of Uganda’s economic revival, according to local news reports.
